Walailak Science Park Organizes Walailak Investor Day 2024, Showcasing Research and Innovation to Drive Business Growth

On March 28, 2024, Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of WU, presided over the opening ceremony of Walailak Investor Day 2024, an exhibition showcasing research and innovation to drive business growth. Participating in the event were Associate Professor Dr. Siwarit Pongsakornrungsilp, Vice President, and Assistant Professor Dr. Anurak Thungtong, Director of the Science and Technology Park, along with government and private sector executives. The event took place at Hua Taphan Chamber, Walailak University Hospital.

The event highlighted the university's role in promoting private sector development in the region, with discussions on the roles of both public and private sectors in the development of the Southern Economic Corridor (SEC). Representatives from various government agencies and private sector funding sources for research and development, such as the National Innovation Agency, Thai-BISPA, Office of Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion, and the Board of Investment of Thailand, were present.

Furthermore, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between educational institutions in the upper southern region to foster collaboration networks supporting research and development aligned with the needs of the private sector in the region. This includes research collaborations, technology transfer from the private sector, and awards for outstanding entrepreneurs, academics, researchers, and students in innovation business, totaling 9 awards.

Walailak Investor Day represents a significant first step in establishing partnerships among educational institutions in the upper southern region. In addition to adding value and enhancing competitiveness for businesses, the research aims to increase potential in the development capabilities of the private sector, raise awareness of the importance of research and development for business, develop research organizations and personnel in the private sector, and create future customer bases for the Science Park.
