Walailak University Hospital’s Srithammaracha Building, Dedicated to the Care of Religious Figures, Ready to Open on May 1st

On Saturday, April 20th, 2024, the Srithammaracha Foundation officially handed over the Srithammaracha Building, dedicated to the care of religious figures, to Walailak University (WU). The ceremony took place at the Srithammaracha Building of WU Hospital, with the provincial governor and donors who contributed to the construction in attendance.

General Piboon Khumchaya, a member of the Privy Council, presided over the ceremony to hand over the building, which was constructed as a royal offering in honor of His Majesty the King's 72nd birthday this year. Mr. Sonthiyan Chuenruthainaitham, chairman of the foundation, presented the building to Associate Professor Dr. Suwit Wuthisuthimethavee, Vice President of WU.

The Srithammaracha Building was consecrated on February 9th, 2020, following approval from the Walailak University Council. Construction spanned 4 years and 2 months, completed in March 2024, resulting in a facility equipped with 114 beds and essential medical equipment. Additionally, the building features rooms for religious ceremonies, meditation, and administrative purposes.

This building aims to provide medical services to monks, novices, and religious leaders in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province and neighboring provinces in the upper southern region. The construction received contributions from both Thai and international individuals, totaling 142,538 contributors with a donation amount of 305,069,455.40 Baht. The project spent 288,373,531.05 Baht for construction management and 16,695,924.35 Baht remaining as a fund for future maintenance. The WU Hospital’s Srithammaracha Building is scheduled to begin operations on May 1st, 2024.
