Walailak University and the Thai Federation on Logistics cordially invites you to logistics seminar at TILOG-LOGISTIX2017:

“The potential benefits of backhauling in Asia, technologies to support such activities and how AEC can change the landscape of backhauling in Asia”

The seminar is co-organised with our worldwide logistics research partners from Malaysia Institute for Supply Chain Innovation (A member of MIT SCALE Network) and University of Chile.

Synopsis:
Simply stated, backhauling is hauling cargo back. Since driving back takes as much time and fuel as driving fully loaded, it makes economic sense to optimise backhauling. However, it cannot be implemented without a proper characterisation of the potential movements, nature of the loads, availability of fleets, technologies and data.

This seminar will drive you to an overview of backhauling and its benefit to the trucking community by using data analytics to evaluate the potential for backhauling. An actionable insight for backhauling management to maximise the benefits of the data, a combination of different modelling techniques and software implementation will be presented. This include using auctioning and reverse auctioning to book for backhauling services. Finally, the discussion of research in backhauling and case studies in Asia, particularly in Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore will be used to highlighting how AEC can change the landscape of backhauling in Asia.
