Speakers
1. Prof. Miriam Coronel-Ferrer, a political science professor at the University of the Philippines and a Filipino peace negotiator and the former chairperson of the peace panel of the Government of the Philippines during the time of President Simeon Bengino Aquino III (2010-2016). In behalf of government, she signed the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front as the first female chief negotiator in the world to sign a final peace accord with a rebel group.
2. Sensei Hara Shintaro, an independent scholar in Malay Studies. Shintaro is a Japanese researcher and interpreter/translator who has been based in Patani (the southernmost part of Thailand) since 1999. He was born in Tokyo, Japan, -- finished B.A. in Policy Management from Faculty of Policy Management, Keio University, Shonan Fujisawa Campus, Japan (1997) and M.A. in Malay Studies from the Academy of Malay Studies, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2001). His working experiences include lecturer of Malay in Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus, Thailand. His research interests are sociolinguistics, Malay language and linguistics, Patani dialect of Malay, lexicography, conflict in Patani, insurgent organizations in Patani, diaspora of Patani Malay, peace building, human right violation, democracy and martyrdom in Patani.
