WU and UTHM Develop Teaching and Learning in Engineering Programs



Prof. Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University (WU) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Surin Maisrikrod, Vice-President for Global Engagement and Faculty Development gave a warm welcome to Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdul Rahman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) and executives from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) on 11th February 2020, at the University Council Reception Room, 2nd Fl. Administration Building, Walailak University.

The objectives of the visit were 1) to present the original copy of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between WU and UTHM to President of Walailak University and 2) to meet and discuss with Dean and faculty members of the School of Engineering and Technology for seeking concrete collaborative activities.

After the meeting, some possibilities of collaborations in engineering and technology disciplines have been mutually agreed as shown in the following topics:

1. Student Internship Program: WU students are allowed to spend 8 months of work placement program at UTHM IT Centers or Excellent Centers in engineering areas

2. WU Post-graduate students are permitted to use UTHM Engineering Laboratories with partial payment for experimental accessories and tools with a shared-aim to produce academic co-publications.

3. Visiting Professor Programs

3.1 Collaborative Research: short term research collaborations on fifty-fifty basis financial supports by home and host universities
3.2 Invited Speaker: delivering special lectures on any topics of interest



4.Development of Engineering online courses designed on the basis of Washington Accord International Accreditation





UTHM is well-known for its fields of engineering and technology located in Johor, Malaysia. UTHM has been ranked 1378th by World University Ranking and 8th in Malaysia. WU and UTHM have signed an MOU since 5 February 2020 to facilitate and intensify their academic collaborations.
