Walailak University to Host the 9th Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL9)



Walailak University (WU) is set to host the 9th Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL9) in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), the Knowledge Network Institute of Thailand, and 10 leading universities in Thailand. The aim is to exchange experiences and educational management strategies in the new era, developing universities to meet international standards.

Associate Professor Dr. Surin Maisrikrod, Vice President of WU, has revealed that WU is ready to host the 9th Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, or SoTL9, under the theme Evolving Pedagogies and Thai Higher Education. The event aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge on modern learning methods to develop educational systems that meet the current and future needs of the labor market, achieving international standards for universities. The event is scheduled to take place from May 1st to 3rd, 2024, at Walailak University.

For SoTL9, Walailak University is collaborating with MHESI, the Knowledge Network Institute of Thailand, and 10 leading universities in Thailand, including Srinakharinwirot University, Kasetsart University, Mahidol University, Khon Kaen University, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, Prince of Songkla University, Thammasat University, Mae Fah Luang University, and Chiang Mai University.

During the opening ceremony, Professor Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Deputy Permanent Secretary of MHESI, will deliver a special lecture on Teaching Development in the Digital Age, and Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of WU, will give a special talk on Reforming Teaching at Walailak University.

Highlights of the event include special lectures, academic discussions, practical training sessions in education by experts, exhibitions on educational technology and innovation (Modern Education Expo), and a Show and Share activity on media and teaching innovations.

Interested individuals are invited to submit their works and innovations in teaching and learning for the competition in three categories: Product Innovation, Process Innovation, and Service Innovation. Submissions are accepted until 20 April 2024.
