Walailak University is ranked at 15^th among 192 Thai institutions, according to the second edition of the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, which was released in July by Cybermetrics Lab - a research group from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). This achievement places Walailak University at 572^nd in Asia and 1,734^th in the world.

The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities measures the capability of being an "E-university" and uses three indicators: Visibility (50%), Transparency (10%), and Excellence (40%).

Visibility measures the number of external links leading to the institution's web pages. Transparency measures the number of citations of research works by researchers with data available in Google Scholar, while Excellence measures the number of papers and cited papers indexed in the SCImago database from 2018 to 2022.

Looking back at Walailak University's historical ranking statistics over the past five years, the university has shown consistent improvement. From 2018 to 2022, Walailak University was ranked 31^st, 24^th, 23^rd, 19^th, and 15^th, respectively, among Thai universities, and achieved global rankings of 3,931^st, 3,033^rd, 2,951^st, 2,379^th, and 1,814^th, respectively.

Chulalongkorn University is ranked No.1 in Thailand in this year’s second edition, followed by Chiang Mai University in the 2^nd place, and Mahidol University in the 3^rd place.
